  Did not expect Upstate to be this small and cozy restaurant in the East Village. I did not realize I have walked past here plenty of times and did not know it was located there. They do not take reservations so expect to show up, leave your name and wait. My friend and I waited for about an hour before getting seated. I heard the wait for happy hour was even crazier. (Happy Hour is 6 oysters and a draft beer for $12)
  
  Very casual place with a friendly hostess greeting you at the door and attentive serving staff. If you're waiting around outside, the hostess will offer you to try out their sister restaurant across the street (Edwin & Neal's Fish Bar) and she will keep you in check with the status and timing of your wait, super helpful. The serving staff was very informative and knowledgable about the oysters and the menu.
  
  As I received the list of daily oysters, there were at least 5 of my favorites already. That's a great sign to start. Upstate has a great selection of East and West coast oysters and clams that changes daily. Very casual place but some wine along with your food will take your taste buds places. My favorites were the Kumamoto oysters and Kusshi oysters. I really wanted to try the fettuccine with clams but I was already quite full from the appetizers. We opted for the diver scallop mushroom risotto. The scallops were seared perfectly, the texture was on point but what would I add to this dish? Some truffle! said the truffle addict. There was no exact dessert menu but they do offer some type of sweet on the house.
  
  Oh yeah, expect me to be back. Happy Hour or not.
